Knaresborough Rotary Club has celebrated its 57th Annual Charter Anniversary Dinner at The Bridge Inn, Walshford. President Leslie Couldwell welcomed guests including the Mayor of Knaresborough Councillor Christine Willoughby and her consort Councillor Andrew Willoughby, The Rotary 1040 District Governor Manoj Joshi and his wife Megha together with guest speaker Veronica Bird OBE.

Past President of Knaresborough Rotary Club, Mike Dixon, was presented with a Presidential Citation marking the achievements of the club during his tenure.

Three club members were awarded Paul Harris Fellowships marking their contributions to the work and life of the club over a number of years.

Named for Paul Harris, the founder of the Rotary organisation, the Fellowship is awarded for ‘tangible and significant assistance for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relations among peoples of the world’

Club Treasurer and President 2015-16, Ian Ibbotson, has made a considerable contribution to the organisation of the Christmas Markets as has former Headmaster David Robertson. Chris Parkin, President 2010-11, is presently chair of the Domestic Committee but is perhaps best known for his repair of the clock on the former Nat West bank in the high street.
