The Rotary Club of Buxton held the local heat of the National Rotary Young Chef Competition at Buxton Community School on Saturday November 16th.

Competitors had the very difficult task of creating a healthy 3 course meal in just 2 hours with ingredients costing no more than £20.

Two local industry professionals, John Cornwell and Emma Blackwood, scored the contestants using a range of different criteria, not just taste and presentation. The four contestants all rose to the challenge magnificently, especially considering their ages ranged from just 12 to 16 years of age.

The winner was Ruben Carroll who will now be entered into the District heat to be held in Mansfield in February. If he succeeds there, there is every chance of him progressing to the National final in London.

The Rotary Club of Buxton wish him well and will continue to support him on his journey.

We would particularly like to thank Hannah Edwards and the staff at Buxton Community School for supporting this initiative.
