Quiz Night to be held online over Zoom

Thu, Apr 2nd 2020 at 8:00 pm - 9:05 pm

As Covid-19 means we cannot meet together, the Club will be holding a Quiz Night online over Zoom

After a three-week break, twenty-two members of the Rotary Club of Motherwell and Wishaw met on Thursday evening, shortly after 8pm, for their first ever "virtual" meeting through the technical wizardry of Zoom.

The meeting started with the members participating in an online clap for the NHS and key workers. Normal business followed with reports being given on those members known to be unwell. Willie Talbot conducted the monthly Numbers Club draw with saw Rotarians Andrew Murray, Jane Allan and Bill McCallum scooping the prizes.

Normally, the Club meets at the Bentley Hotel where we enjoy a meal. Three Rotarians came up with the idea that the Club members could, if they wished, donate the cost of their Thursday meal to the local Basics Food Bank. The Foodbank's details were given to the members present and a number of standing orders have, already, been set up to ensure that the local Foodbank benefits

Past President Bill McCallum had organised a PowerPoint general knowledge quiz, of five rounds of ten questions, which was keenly contested and Tom Agnew was adjudged the winner because he said he had the most correct answers!

The meeting was a great success and closed after about ninety minutes.

Next Thursday’s “virtual” meeting, which will take place at 8:05pm to allow for the eight o'clock clap for key workers, will be a talk by Jane Allan.
