26 Club Members + wives and Inner Wheel Members
joined the third Zoom Meeting. Key points covered were:
1. Gary indicated that he was seeking additional PPE equipment for Abbeyfield
in case of any need in the future. Two Club members were able to offer
assistance on this.
2. Rotary fees: Kathryn advised that standing orders for meals could be
cancelled by Members if they wished as we are unable to meet at the SCCC.
However, if standing orders are cancelled they must be reinstated as soon as we
get back to a normal schedule of meetings.
3. Tony advised that he had only authorised the reallocation of funds from the
meal account to Taunton Food Bank as requested by individual Club Members. If
he requires more funds he will request these again. A PR release will be
prepared by RA on this.
4. Kathryn sought agreement to the allocation of funds raised from Moonraker to
our local charities on the basis of £7k to ARC and £6k to St Margarets. This
was agreed, but she will only release these funds once she has personally
determined the immediate needs of the two charities. ( The basis of these sums
is £17711 collected, minus 25% retained as previously agreed, rounded to £13k.)
5. Paul briefly updated on activities at Halcon overseen by Denise. They are
currently supporting over 100 people. District have added £250 to the sum we
have already allocated. A Global grant is being investigated.
6. Richard A advised that the ‘ buddy system’ was now set up and was in use.
7. Keith indicated that the Golf Day, a big contributor to Club funds, will be
rescheduled to later in the year.
8. Richard G said that the District Conference has been postponed to 17th April
2021.
9. Jennifer Bird also gave a brief update on TOG, which is currently closed.
10. We have a potential new member – Tim Jay. A 7 day letter will be circulated
shortly.
11. Details of the club AGM have been circulated.
Finally- to end the meeting - Richard and Margaret gave a comprehensive
illustrated report on the excellent Rotary friendship exchange to Peru. We can
expect a return visit in May 2021, by which time we must all have mastered good
old West Country Dancing to show off our traditions to our visitors!
Ball Draw: won by Alison, but no Joker. The wine will be in the post.
Next Zoom Meeting: Easter Monday 7 30 pm Duty Rotarian – Richard Austin
