Frank Williamson Rejoins us at our Weekly Zoom Meeting

Recently, Wednesday 17th June 2020 we welcomed back Rotarian Frank Williamson, Frank who was a fellow member and Past President of Thornhill Club

During these unprecedented times during Covid-19 where we have had to cancel and postpone various events we have still managed to hold and attract speakers at our weekly meetings via Zoom.

Recently, Wednesday 17th June 2020 we welcomed back Rotarian Frank Williamson, Frank who was a fellow member and Past President of Thornhill Club is now a member of The Rotary Club of Dalbeattie where from 1st July he will take over the helm as Club President. Many people will also recognise Frank as Managing Director of local business Sanquhar Tiles Services (STS) based in Sanquhar where he will be retiring from in September this year.

Frank spoke about STS and how it was Purchased By American Company Shaw Industries back in February 2018 and after heavy investment by the company they increased local employment and increased production to make them the largest manufacture of carpet tiles in the UK.

Sanquhar Tile Services Limited (STS) was founded in 1971 by the Sidlaw Group, its contribution to the textile industry began in 1915. Active in the United Kingdom and European markets. STS, a long-established and important carpet tile manufacturer in the UK, will continue to serve its customers as part of Shaw’s commercial flooring division.

Shaw is the largest carpet tile manufacturer in North America. The acquisition expands Shaw’s carpet tile footprint to meet the needs of its global customers — complementing the company’s carpet tile manufacturing facilities in Cartersville and Adairsville, Georgia, USA, and in Nantong, China.

The Club thanked Frank for joining us at our Zoom meeting, we thoroughly enjoyed listening and meeting back up with him and wish him the very best in his retirement.
