Following the devastating explosion in Beirut on Tuesday 4th August, SARAID mobilised a team of 6 volunteers to provide structural damage assessments and immediate humanitarian assistance.
The team will be self sufficient during their deployment in order not to place more burden on the already fragile situation. They will work with the UN infrastructure to assist in coordination and delivery of structural damage assessments and provision of immediate emergency medical relief where required. They have several engineers in the team, able to provide specialist structural engineering expertise, supported by 8 engineers in the UK providing remote support.
The deployment is likely to cost in the region of £10,000. They are not a government organisation. They are a charity staffed entirely by volunteers and rely on public support.
