Youth Project Prepares to Grow Its Own Vegetables

The Green Rivers Project in Walsall has prepared a very large vegetable plot to enable to young people to grow their own vegetables and learn more about organic food production

Green Rivers Youth Project has been catering for the needs of young people in North Walsall. In an innovative change they have taken a part of their grounds and turned it into a large vegetable plot. With the help of members of Saddlers Rotary Club a simple patch of grass has been turned into a productive piece of land. Project Leader Caroline Crolley and Rotary Club President Paul Daniels are very excited at how things have turned out so far. The project will allow young people to grow vegetable and learn about food production and organic farming. Most of the young people come from disadvantaged backgrounds and the project will allow these families to get access to fresh vegetables when they are harvested.
