Youth activities are continuing, albeit reduced by the impact of Covid-19 regulations.
Adrian keeps in touch with Sandbach Interact via weekly emails to all members of the club. Adrian Ramsden, our Interact Co-ordinator, reminds us that it is World Interact Week, 2-8 November.
Rotary competitions – Young Film maker; Young Writer; Young Environmentalist; Youth Speaks; Young Photographer; and Young Artist – will, this year, be held on-line. Enquiries should be directed to Adrian. Sandbach School has indicated an interest in Youth Speaks and our club has donated £50 to the competition.
Eric Cowcill, our Youth Committee Charman, reports that Elworth Hall RotaKids have decided to support ShoeAid. This charity is dedicated to ensuring that no child or adult in the UK has to go without shoes. They claim that 4 million children in the UK have to wear ill-fitting shoes and around 200,000 homeless people in the UK do not have sufficient footwear. At the same time 2M shoes are thrown into landfill every week.
RotaKids are collecting the shoes and Eric is co-ordinating the collection and transportation to the charity’s collection point.
Eric was recently asked to give an on-line talk to Sandbach Scouts about Rotary. The scouts have also decided to support ShoeAid.
more Rotarian Rosemary Twidale from Rotary Club of Sandbach attended the meeting of RotaKids and this a short report on that meeting.
