The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright winter ‘Young Photographer’ competition
Rotary International is committed to offering young people opportunities to unlock their potential, develop their skills and broaden their horizons.The Rotary Club of Kirkcudbright works closely with Kirkcudbright Academy and its five partner Primary Schools, as well as other youth groups in and around the town, to deliver and support enrichment opportunities for young people.
Sadly, plans for this year have been severely disrupted because of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, with financial support from the Holywood Trust and other generous sponsors, we launched a new winter ‘Young Photographer’ competition in October which has proved to be an enormous success. Our young people were asked to submit a single photograph on the theme ‘Wild Nature’ whilst groups of senior students were asked to respond to the theme, ‘the New Normal’.
A total of seventy nine young people submitted entries. The winning entries were as follows:

All the photographs will be exhibited in the Tolbooth from January 18th until March 28th. All of the winning entries will be displayed on boards whilst every other entry will be shown on a continuous TV loop running in both The Tolbooth and in The Galleries in Kirkcudbright.
