Award of Paul Harris Fellowship
A Paul Harris Fellowship has recently been awarded to Past President Geoff Cheney
Paul Harris Fellowships are awarded to members and non-members who have excelled in demonstrating the ideal of Rotary – Service above Self. The Rotary Club of King’s Lynn is pleased to report the award of a PHF to Geoff Cheney. Geoff has been a member of the Club since September 1999 and has made a very significant contribution to the life of the Club. He was President in 2004-05 and for many years he was a member of the Club Council and is a Trustee of the Benevolent Fund.
Geoff has helped to raise substantial funds for charity. He has been involved in organising many major fundraising events such as beer festivals and golf competitions. However, his major role has been to organise the 200 Club which was set up many years ago to raise money for The Magpie Centre, Riding for the Disabled at Runcton Holme. In most years the Club has donated between £750 and £1000 to the Magpie Centre.
The award of the PHF should have taken place in June 2020 but had to be delayed because of the Covid lockdown. The photograph shows a socially-distanced presentation of the Paul Harris Fellowship certificate by Immediate Past President Steve Roberts (who would have made the presentation in June when he was President, had it been possible.)
