March 1st is officially the meteorological start of spring and in an effort to clean up our paths and verges from litter, Matlock Rotary Club has carried out a spring clean.
This was done with the cooperation of Derbyshire Dales District Council, who arranged for the removal of the bags of litter that were collected.
Two teams of Rotary members took part in the spring clean. A team of two covered the Rowsley/Darley Dale area on Monday 1st of March and a team of three covered the Wishingstone /Convent area on Tuesday, March 2nd, all following the Covid 19 guidelines.
In total, eleven bags of litter were collected.
The President of Matlock Rotary Club, Tom Moloney said ”As a club we are always pleased to be involved in events that benefit the community. Picking litter up is very rewarding as it tidies up the environment, prevents harm to animals and reduces the amount of plastic pollution. I would also like to thank Derbyshire Dales District Council for their help with this litter pick.”
