COVID and Policing Macclesfield”. An evening with Peter Crowcroft

Members and visitors enjoyed an arresting talk using ZOOM by Peter Crowcroft who

has served in the police force for 25 years and has lived on the eastern area of 

Cheshire for most of his life.

Over that time, Peter’s responsibilities have included :-

  • -Firearms and public order commander
  • -Lead for neighbourhood policing, business crime and neighbourhood watch. 
  • -Lead for problem solving and a member of the national government Criminal Justice
  • Police and Criminal Evidence Act board
  • -Head of policing for the eastern area of the force
  • -District Superintendent.

Peter’s wide ranging talk covered changes in the nature of crime, the impact of social

media, the impact of technology and related crime, transparency and challenge,

sensitivity and social awareness.

Peter discussed his experience of policing Macclesfield over 20+ years and the

specific challenges presented by COVID.

Peter’s talk was followed by a lively Q & A session with many questions from

members and guests.
