Food Banks

As the country entered the 2nd wave of the coronavirus pandemic the club resolved to support the local food banks

In response to growing demand during the pandemic, the Rotary Club of Uppingham has made donations, amounting to around £1,000 worth of much needed provisions to the Rutland Food Bank and the Harboro Jubilee Food Bank with the aid of a District Rotary Foundation grant.

Ali Wainwright, on behalf of the Rutland Foodbank, says, "I want to thank the Uppingham Rotary Club which has donated so generously. They have helped us to provide much needed food and toiletry packs for Rutland residents experiencing food poverty. A great example of two organisations working together for the local community. We couldn’t do this without each other - together we achieve so much in our little county, as the county motto says Multum in Parvo."

President of the Rotary Club of Uppingham, Carolyn Cartwright, added, "The Club is very glad to have been in a position to support our local Food Banks at this difficult time for so many people."

We made 2 deliveries to the Rutland Food Bank and one to the Harboro Jubilee Food Bank during spring/summer 2021 plus a delivery of Christmas goodies for the Christmas 2020 food parcels distributed by Rutland FB.

In the lead up to Xmas 21 we again became aware of shortages at the same 2 food banks so, with the help of another District Rotary Foundation grant we delivvered £825 worth of food a household items to these 2 food banks.

Our new  President, Shane James (pictured), said "The Club is delighted to be able to support our local Food Banks as we approach the festive season with so many of our local residents in this degree of need.”
