After a three year gap the annual Big Knit at the Holy Trinity Church, Cliftonville.

This was the view of our loyal knitters at the 11th Rotary Big Knit on Saturday afternoon, the 19th March 2022 after a big 3 year gap.

A dozen groups were present and some even took part with friends knitting at home. Just under £2.700 was collected on the day with more sponsorship to come.

The Mayor of Margate Cllr Mick Tomlinson got knitters started by counting down from 11 (since this was, after all, our eleventh year), and Mayoress Shirley Tomlinson joined the knitters in taking part.

Representatives from the charities being supported this year circulated and chatted to knitters answering any questions raised about their respective charities which were, Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance, Carers Support EK , Age UK and Demelza.

The vicar of Holy Trinity Margate , Clifford, kept an eye on the proceedings and we are always grateful for the use of the church for this really special event.

There was the traditional tea and biscuits, during the interval. Music was played and we displayed pictures from previous years on a big screen.

A free raffle and prizes and certificates for the longest lengths knitted in the time, closed the event.

A team of friends of Sunrise Rotary Club assisted the club outstandingly and our thanks to all who helped make it happen and especially to all our wonderful knitters. It couldn't happen without you. Hope to see you next year
