T S Stirling Sea Cadets have given Meriden Rotary Club vital help for several years particularly with our Santa Sleigh Collections. In the autumn of 2019, they asked us if we would be able to help them to get a new sports kit. They compete in a number of regional competitions and have been particularly successful in five-a-side football, but their sports kit was old and comprised several different styles of garment. This did not contribute to the highest team spirit or pride in their Unit. We thought this was a very worthwhile project and we were able to obtain a District Grant for 50% of the cost.
The kit was ordered towards the end of 2019 and delivered to them in March 2020. Unfortunately, this coincided with another event that quickly affected all of us, the first Covid Lockdown! T S Stirling like, all of us, could not meet and as the months passed, they lost cadets and officers but we are pleased to say they are now fully operational again with a strong body of cadets. The kit can finally be worn and their teams can turn out smartly dressed to proudly represent T S Stirling as can be seen from the photo which shows some of the cadets wearing it. The Rotary Wheel and the Meriden name will be seen every time the compete.
