Kevin Barton gave us a guided tour of the educational garden being developed at the school by a team of volunteers under his direction. The aim of the garden is to provide the pupils with hands on education about plants, wildlife and the environment in general. Care is being taken to work closely with teachers to ensure the garden is developed to support curricular activities and bring studies to life.
We were particularly impressed with the variety and quality of the different ecological zones where children are able to learn and have fun under the watchful eye of their teachers. We loved the polytunnel planting area where children are able to have a go at growing plants, the delightful classroom cabin and the peaceful tranquility garden.
We have supported this wonderful project by the donation of an information board which will contain information about the gardens and the different ecological zones.
