Young Musician Competition - and the Winners are!

The competition was held on Saturday 29th October 2022 in St Mary's Church, Great Dunmow. 

The competition saw excellent performances from all the young musicians, with a very high standard as always.

The competition was judged by two professional musicians who provided feedback on each individual performance to guide and encourage our young musicians.

The class winners were:

Advance class (Grade 6 and above): Nathan on clarinet.

Intermediate class (Grade 4 -5): Ankhan on piano.  

Foundation class (Grade 1 - 3): Jonas on piano.

(Ankhan also received a commendation on violin in the Foundation class).

The overall competition winner was Nathan on clarinet, who will now go forward to the Rotary District competition, to be held on Saturday 18th February 2023, in Chelmsford Cathedral.  In addition he will also be invited to take part in the Essex Young Musician competition, to be held in July 2023.

The event included a tribute to Andy King, who very sadly died suddenly in June this year.  Although Andy was not a Rotarian he was very much a friend of Rotary and worked with us to establish this annual competition to encourage young musicians.
