Nikki Symmons MBE

As a teacher and then head-teacher at  Ysgol Heol Goffa, Nikki Symmons has been a well-known and respected figure in the Llanelli community for a long time. At the school, she derived the most pleasure from seeing her pupils thrive despite many and varied challenges. When she retired in 2022, Nikki wanted to stay involved in the community and education.

‘I knew about the great work that Rotary does in Llanelli, and had come to know some of the Rotarians over the years that they have supported the school. Joining Rotary seemed like an excellent way to continue to contribute to life in the town.’

Nikki is, of course, a fully qualified teacher. However, her first and enduring loves are fashion design and art. ‘Since retiring, I have picked up my art again. It has been wonderful to have time this summer to paint en plein air in Llanelli’s parks and gardens, combining my love of art with gardens and the outdoors.'
