After 23 years’ service in the Royal Military Police, 19 years of which as a detective, Martin joined the Civil Service in 2005 as the Officer responsible for discipline within 20th Armoured Brigade, at that stationed in Sennelager, Germany. He was employed in a variety of jobs in Germany over the subsequent 11 years, mainly in the personnel area, which included the role of Deputy Chief of Staff, Rear Operations Group on 4 occasions for both 7th and 20th Armoured Brigades, during deployments on Operations TELIC and HERRICK. Martin was instrumental in the creation of the UK based support unit responsible for the reception of fatalities, casualties and their families returned from operations and for a team based in Cyprus supporting post operation readjustment. He departed Germany in 2015, having planned and then managed the rebasing of units (and families) out of Hohne & Fallingbostel, following three of those units to Leuchars, Scotland (another former RAF Station taken over by the Army!). He was employed as the Station Staff Officer and Officer in Charge

of Leuchars Station Support Unit, responsible for the real-life support for the busy Service community at Leuchars. Martin arrived in post as Station Staff Officer and Executive Officer, Wattisham Flying Station in 19 Oct 20.

The Station Staff Officer role delivers day to day on behalf of the Head of Establishment (or Station Commander) the enduring, essential support that enables the Army to live, work, train and deliver.

Martin is married and has two sons, both of whom are serving with the Royal Engineers. He enjoys pottering around his house and allotment, undertaking the many DIY tasks assigned by his wife. When the DIY is complete, he has a (spectating) interest in motor sport.
