Club Meeting

Wed, Oct 5th 2022 at 7:00 pm - 9:15 pm

With guests Dave Bennett and Henrique Santos who delivered all of our aid to Ukraine.

The Rotary Club of Minster On Sea were extremely pleased to welcome Dave Bennett and Henrique Santos

to their club meeting. You may recall back in July they offered their assistance to Rotary to get our essential supplies including wheelchairs out to war torn Ukraine. Dave supplied the lorry, fuel and if that wasn’t enough even offered for himself and Henrique to drive it there. Despite the personal risks they didn’t just stop at the border they drove deep into Ukraine. There they were able to meet and help Ukrainians by purchasing and delivering food with funds they had raised themselves.
We invited them back to hear the story of their journey but more importantly to honour them. President Mike Brown presented them with the Paul Harris Award. This is the highest award in Rotary and is given to a Rotarian or member of the public that has made an outstanding contribution to the community. We also presented them with a cheque for £500 to go towards their continued support of Ukraine. After making their initial journey for us they were so inspired that they continued to fund raise and make a second trip. They are planning a third in the near future.
Well done gentlemen you certainly deserve your awards and thank you.
