Books for Children

Christmas 2022

Books for Children for Christmas 2022

2022 was the third year that Nailsworth Rotary has run a project to provide high quality books to children in families less able to afford presents for their children at Christmas.

Nailsworth Rotary partnered with Stroud District Foodbank and The Yellow Lighted Bookshop to provide 500 books to children in the local area, books were also provided to children living with their mothers at Stroud Women’s Refuge.

We are once again delighted that the project was very successful and thank our wonderful donors for giving so generously.  We need to include in this our huge gratitude to our three major donors who made this project completely successful, enabling us to give a hardback book to every child, these were: Jackie Morris, artist and writer https://www.jackiemorris.co.uk/  The Julia and Hans Raus Trust and our own Rotary District.

Waitrose Stroud donated environmentally friendly wrapping paper and so we had a ‘wrapping fest’!   Over 300 books were wrapped by Rotarians and friends in their homes and the remaining 200 at Box Village Hall.  Books were delivered directly to the Foodbank for distribution by volunteers.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED
