Members and guests attending the meeting on 28th June received a report on the recent International Rotary Golf week organised annually by the club at which some two hundred and eighty eight  golfers from twenty different countries attended. This year's event was blessed with good weather and raised in excess of £6000  for the clubs charitable support of both local and international charities.
President Frank Quinault also advised members that following a very successful garden party held in conjunction with the St Andrews Loches Alliance over the past weekend, the club would be making a donation of £1000  to Medecins Sans Frontiers to support the charity's work in Ukraine. Speaker at the meeting was Professor Brad Mackay, Vice Principal International Strategy and External Relations at the University of St Andrews, who has been heavily involved in developing the University's strategy for the years ahead. He described how our small local university with its ten thousand students was  performing well above  other Universities in the United Kingdom, having twice in recent years dislodged the Oxbridge Universities to be declared the best University in the country. He described the six main themes for the University going forward, and outlined the challenges posed for the University by the Covid pandemic when it became necessary to develop a  high quality digital strategy at short notice to enable students to continue their studies under the constraints of Covid regulations. The university is ranked seventh in the United Kingdom in respect of entrepreneurial developments establishing new businesses, and such entrepreneurship will be the focus  of the new university campus being developed at Guardbridge. A vote of thanks
was given by Angela Fowlis.
