THE TURKEY-SYRIA EARTHQUAKE DISASTER

In the early hours of Monday 6th February,

two powerful earthquakes followed by aftershocks, hit the south-east area of Turkey and Northern Syria.

The W.H.O. has estimated that over fifty thousand have died, thousands known to be missing and one million homeless.

 There is wide spread disruption, shelter is minimal, communications are difficult and heavy snow, rain and cold are adding to the problems.

Many were trapped in the rubble of fallen tower blocks and houses, together with refugee camps  being devastated.

The club  carried out a  street collection on Saturday 11thFebruarry in Malton, for a relief fund which will go towards   the purchase of Shelter boxes and other needs.
