Pre-Club Meeting Drinks!

Do you know what we do?

Do you know who we are?

Would you like to find out more about us?……..

We are a sociable bunch who love nothing better than having fun…we’ve very recently enjoyed a dazzling Burns Night celebration, a great evening…

Who are we?

We are a group of people from a variety of backgrounds who meet regularly on a Tuesday evening.  The Rotary Club of  St Ives is all about supporting and serving our local community and so much more….

Rotary is a global organisation which aims to sponsor a range of activities to benefit local organisations and international communities.

What do we do?

Most of you will only think of us as the ‘elves’ who accompany Santa on his local rounds…… We were heartened by the support you gave us in 2022, we know times are challenging for so many people, the response from local families in a year difficult year was fantastic!

We annually take a party to Holt Island with tea with entertainment to follow. At Christmas we make contributions to Christmas Lunches at a couple of Day Care Centres, and have the opportunity to help out.

In 2022 we started a group for our recent Ukrainian residents, who now regularly meet in St Ives for a chance to share experiences and support each other.

As a result of another successful Winter Craft Fair in 2022 we are planning our Craft Fair of 2023, a chance to showcase local crafters.

Our Youth Committee are busy talking to local schools and organising competitions for our young people, both educational and fun.

Some of us enjoy regular visits to schools to hear children read on a one to one basis.  Our Rotary Readers scheme is a really beneficial for the children and our members enjoy the experience.

At Christmas we were able to give our Young Carers a party to remember, we plan to give them a day out later in the year.

Our International Committee had a very successful year in 2022 collecting 219 shoe boxes, full of small gifts for adults and children, that were dispatched to Moldova.

We have donated to ShelterBox for Pakistan floods this Rotary year, and are about to send for Turkey/Syria earthquake, and to Philippines typhoon. We have also sent £1000 to our partner in Moldova for Ukranian support.

This is only a very brief summary of our activities for 2022-2023, there is much much more going on all the time.

If you would like to find out more please email Sue Duma, clubserviceschair@stivesrotarycambs.org.uk

or send us a message OR just come along on a Tuesday evening...
