District Youth Speaks Competition Winners.
The District Youth Speaks competition was held on February 28th in the Essex Council Chambers, Chelmsford. The winners of the Senior section were the team from Helena Romanes School, Dunmow.
District Youth Speaks Competition.
The District Youth Speaks competition took place on Tuesday 28th February 2023, in the Essex Council Chambers, Chelmsford. In all six teams took part from across the District.
The winners of the senior section were from Helena Romanes School, Dunmow. The team of Mia (Chair), Emma (Proposer) & Marianna (Opposer), skilfully debated the subject of 'Cancel Culture'.
The Dunmow team are pictured with District Governor Jed Brooks, Mayor of Chelmsford Cllr Sue Dobson and Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Essex Dr James Bettley, who presented the the trophy.
The winners of the intermediate class were the Grays Convent High School, Grays, who debated 'Is school the only route for education of over 14 year olds?'
Both teams will now go forward to represent District 1240 at the regional final, to be held on Saturday 11th March, in Cambridge.
