What is Rotary's Polio Story?

Polio Eradication has been Rotary's biggest global project for many years. A truly inspiring story with many many people dedicated to the eradication of this horrible virus that causes paralysis.

We work alongside the World Health Organisation, UNICEF, Center for Disease Control, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and GAVI the Vaccine Alliance and together we make up the Global Polio Eradication Initiative. Since the mid 1980s cases of wild polio virus have reduced from 350,000/year to 22 cases in 2022 and no cases so far in 2023.

Polio is now endemic in just two countries - Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Join us on Saturday to hear more.
