Assisted Shopping Trip 2006

Christmas came early to Uxbridge with another highly successful Assisted Shopping Day. Organised by our very own John Palmer from the Mall Pavilions in conjunction with Tony Dunn from The Chimes and Sue Johnson from Shopmobility, the day involved greeting our Senior Citizens on their arrival by minibus and taking them round the town to do their Christmas Shopping.

A small flotilla of wheelchairs and scooters sallied forth with an army of helpers, drawn from students of Bishopshalt School and Uxbridge High together with members of the RAF and, of course, members of our Club, in tow. With the shopping mission successfully completed everyone headed for St Margarets Church where a buffet lunch had been laid on. Our Mayor and Rotarian, David Routledge was the after dinner speaker. Not wishing to find a parking ticket on his return to the Sleigh, Santa and his Little Helper arrived on foot and presented gifts to all our guests. Rotarian, the Rev June Hughman, led some rousing carol singing to round off a very enjoyable day.
