The aim was top ride a static bike for 100 miles in 10 hrs with sponsprship in aid od "End Polio Now"

An emailed report by President Colin on the very successful Rotary Ride projecy which raised £2270

Dear Friends,

Very many thanks for so many contributions to a successful End Polio Bike Relay. We wanted to raise £1000 by covering the equivalent of 100 miles within 10 hours. Mainly thanks to a blistering start from the staff of Wendy’s son’s company, we were well on our way by 10:00. Wendy fuelled the good humoured and youthful start to our relay with the promise of a lorry load of sausage rolls to be delivered to Lynden Barns (their work place)! We completed the distance before 3 pm and exceeded our donation target – the £1222 raised does not include Gift Aid, so we should be close to £1500.

We were very pleased to welcome our Lord Lieutenant and Rutland Radio, both a great boost to morale. Phil had mobilised a network of friends and contacts, which brought in donations amounting to circa £400. Paul and Margaret did much of the heavy lifting in organising the event and the nitty-gritty of collecting the static bike plus running the IT. Without Malcolm’s deft Hopper Bus driving, it would have been a difficult to get the bike to the Falcon and many thanks too, to the Uppingham School Sports Club for allowing us the loan. As ever, we are indebted to the Falcon for allowing us to stage the event.

Lots of us contributed a bit of sweat, effort, donations and the mood was very positive. So a good day all round and many thanks once again.

Schönes Wochenende!

Yours, Colin
