KBBA Awards Night

The 3 Rotary Clubs in the Royal Borough,  Kingston, New Malden and Surbiton, jointly sponsored the Best Charity/Social Enterprise Award at the 2023 Kingston Borough Business Awards.

We sponsored this award as we wanted to recognise the tremendous contribution that charities and social enterprises make in the Borough and to thank the hundreds of people that give their time, often on a voluntary basis, to improve the lives of the less fortunate members of our community. Rotary also believes strongly that local businesses can make a significant and positive impact to the wellbeing of the community. We are looking always to strengthen our links to businesses and are able provide the linkage between business and local charities and community projects.

The Best Charity/Social Enterprise Award was open to registered charities and social enterprises who have shown pioneering ideas and the entrepreneurial drive to make social changes that will have a positive impact on society.

There were 14 excellent submissions in this category, and after much discussion, the 4 finalists were:

• Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness

• Kingston Voluntary Action

• Momentum Children’s Charity

• RBKares

Highly commended was RBKares, a new grassroots charity which has mobilised over 500 volunteers and 2000 schoolchildren in the past year.

The winner was Momentum Children’s Charity which has helped over 200 children and families of children with cancer each year for the past 18 years.
