The speaker on 11th May, was Yak Patel the CEO of Lancaster District Voluntary Solutions, LDCVS. This is a charitable organisation founded in 1972 to support the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector. Yak described the ways in which this umbrella organisation connects communities. Through Community Networks, Team workers, community residents, children and young people work together to make a difference to the peoples' lives.  LDCVS administrates philanthropic funding through the Bay Foundation to direct monies to projects. The Lancaster District Young Peoples' Foundation helps children and young people to thrive and realise their potential. One to one mentoring is offered and the Community Learning Network provides educational pathways across a wide age range. Through the work of Community Health Champions young people are trained to act as Health Coaches bringing in good advice to their family members and friends.
