This year's bake-off took place at The Ivo school. There were 9 entries instead of 10, as Harry one of the contestants was needed to do the sound for the school production, much to his dismay! The pupils came from years 7,8 and 9 and were each tasked in making a Victoria sponge.
Our 3 celebrity judges, President, Sally Heffer-Martin, Holly, a local baker and Phil Pope, St Ives Town Mayor, had great fun chatting to the contestants and in some cases giving a bit of hands on help.
All the contestants were very proficient and the cakes were soon cooking in the oven.
While the cakes were baking all contestants cleared their work stations, made their butter icing filling and selected from the range of fresh fruits and toppings to decorate their cakes. Once cooled the contestants decorated their cakes.
Then came the final part of judging, presentation and taste. The standard of decoration was amazing and even the odd stray Rotarian couldn't resist sampling the cakes (rude not too) they were delicious!
The judges deliberated for quite a while, as all the cakes tasted delicious.
However a winner and runner up, were eventually selected
