From the early stages of the pandemic we have supported and worked with two local food banks – the Holy Trinity’s Food Bank in Wester Hailes and Community for Food, which assists disadvantaged families with children at local schools. In both cases we have provided and continue to provide both financial support and practical help with food deliveries.
In June 2023 we were delighted to be involved in securing a grant of £1000 to the Wester Hailes Food Bank from Chancerygate, a UK company engaged in a development in Sighthill. Company Director Mike Walker said they were delighted to help this local charity and the local community, and in doing so, recognised the support provided to the Food Bank by Currie Balerno Rotary.
Holy Trinity does not just run a foodbank. It provides counselling sessions, a debt centre, a job club and a café offering free soup and fruit on three days a week and Currie Balerno Rotary provides both financial assistance and volunteers to help.
