Dunmow Rotary Youth Competitions 2023/24

The following competitions are open to  young people upto 17 years old. Entries for Young Writer, Photographer, Environmentalist, Filmmaker and Artist are welcome at any time in the year up to the deadline (usually February half term)

1. Youth Speaks 2023-24. This is for secondary school students, 11-17 years old. It is open to all schools or scout/guide groups in the local area.  (The local competition for 2023/24 is now complete.)

2. Young Writer 2023-24. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Rebuilding. (Closing date for entries is Friday 16th February 2024.)

3. Young Photographer 2023-24. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Rebuilding. (Closing date for entries is Friday 16th February 2024.)

4. Young Artist 2022-23. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Rebuilding. (Closing date for entries is Friday 16th February 2024.)

5. Young Environmentalist 2023-24. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Waste Minimisation. (Closing date for entries is Friday 16th February 2024.)

6. Young Filmmaker 2023-24. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. Theme: Rebuilding. (Closing date for entries is Friday 16th February 2024.)

7. Young Musician 2023-24. This competition is open to anyone from 5*-17 years old. (The local competition for 2023/24 is now complete.)

All of these competitions offer winning students, aged between 7 & 17, except Youth Speaks which is between 11 & 17, the opportunity to go forward to the District and National Competitions.  All age references are based on the age of the entrant on the 31st August 2023.

* The competitions for those below 7 years of age are at a local level only.

Every year we hold an awards evening in May/June to which teachers and families are invited. All participants get a certificate and the winning entries from all schools get prizes. The overall Dunmow winners get a special prize.
