Community Service Projects

We carry out a wide range of service projects

Service defines Rotary's character; whether local, national or international, it promotes Rotary's appeal and visibility in the community, and is one of the reasons that Rotary continues to grow.

Community Service responds to the needs of the local community and through our International Committee we support communities around the world. The Club determine top priorities for service projects by first learning about a community's needs and assesses them, they then seek to develop a response that addresses them.

Our current main local projects are:

Heartstart CPR and Defibrillator Training

A major part of Lomond Rotary’s service to the community is delivering Emergency Life Support Training in a partnership between Rotary members, First Responders, Police officers, Paramedics and members of the community who have received Heartstart Training and have gone on to become Trainers and join our team.

To date over 46 lives in our community have been saved thanks to CPR training and the installation of defibrillators in our community.

Internet Safety for primary school pupils

Since 2017 we have worked in partnership with Police Scotland, the MOD Police and Argyll & Bute Council to present an Internet Safety programme to Primary School children in years 6 and 7.  This has involved a presentation by our police partners to all the primary schools from Cardross to Tarbet and a Rotary Poster Competition for the children to demonstrate and communicate their understanding of the dangers associated with using the internet.
