Guest Speaker was Lynn Brand, a volunteer and Fife fund-raiser for Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity: ‘Whatever the illness, we’re with you to the end'. Lynn’s experience of the charity came about through the final illness of her beloved father when Marie Curie nurse Jane came for his last days, bringing clinical help and family support into the home. As well as providing care with dignity and compassion in the home, Marie Curie can give free support at all stages of any terminal illness (not just cancer). The charity’s two hospices in Scotland -in Glasgow and Edinburgh- offer respite care where families can stay or visit for the day. There is also phone-line and on-line support available at all stages of an on-going illness, a service used 78,000 times during 2022-23. The charity also funds hugely important research and campaigning. Lynn explained how all these services require fund-raising on a huge scale nationally, but also on a very local level. All help is very much appreciated whether it’s a walk up Kilimanjaro, a legacy in a will, a silent disco, a baking sale, or any other……Today one in four people don’t get the care they need at the end of life. The Marie-Curie Daffodil Appeal offers people the chance to  raise money to allow more people to benefit at the time they most need help and support. Colin Brown chaired the meeting, and Hamish Tait gave a very appreciative vote of thanks which was echoed by the members
