President Hendrik Bebber and Art Show Organiser Gerry Rees were delighted to be invited to join a Mayor’s afternoon tea with 2023 Art Show winner Elizabeth Barnes and friends. It was a lovely afternoon with a traditional tea in the Mayor’s parlour where we saw and heard about the city charters, ceremonial maces and key events in the city’s past.
In a busy afternoon it was also the opportunity for the Mayor to present Elizabeth with the Turner Cup, which as winner of the public’s favourite picture is hers to keep until this year’s show. Hendrik was then able to present the Mayor with a cheque for £553, representing half the profit from the Art Show, for the Mayor of Bath’s Relief Fund, a last resort to families in dire need.
