Summer Party
True to our ambition to have a fun year and not working too hard all the time, members, plus guests and friends met at Sue and Richard’s lovely garden in the heart of Wells for a fabulous summer lunch party with some fun games to follow.
Club Meetings
At our first meeting in the month at The Crown Moira Anderson from the Bishop’s Palace joined us and after dinner spoke about the Swans of Wells. A fascinating and informative evening where we all learnt something new about the wider context and history of the relationship between Wells and the Swans.
Bridget and Michelle from Heads Up, the local mental health charity, joined us at our business meeting to update members us on the work of Heads Up, which continues to do a great job supporting families in the local community touched by mental health issues, including dementia. It was good to learn that the mini bus Wells Rotary purchased and donated to Heads Up is being used regularly to help bring people to and from the centre.
A very positive evening capped by a new member Karen being inducted into the club by immediate past president Angela,
Events
Members supported the Moat Boat Race, organised by Wells Lions Club, with the marshalling duties. A large audience turned out on the bank holiday Monday to watch the event which raised funds for local good causes.
