Rotary Children's Fun Day provides positive experiences for some of the UK's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

The programme is organised by Rotary Clubs across the country. It is supported by Kids in Mind, a children's charity that offers mental health and wellbeing support for children escaping domestic violence.

For more than 3 decades, Rotary has been giving disabled and disadvantaged young peple the chance to enjoy new experiences, taste adventure and have fun trips and days out.

More than 1 million children have enjoyed a break from the ordinary in a range of ways.

  • Exciting activities within school settings
  • A taste of the arts with theatre visits
  • Trips out to theme parks, activity centres, zoos, seaside resorts and more
All of this is made possible thanks to Rotary clubs, who help to organise and fund activities, with many Rotary members also volunteering a helping hand. It brings fun into the lives of children who often have come from difficult backgrounds, escaped domestic violence, or are disadvantaged in a number of ways.

For 2025, Rotary is planning to give at least another 30,000 children that special experience.

Locally five clubs: Dumfries, Dumfries Devorgilla, Annan & District, Lockerbie & District and Thornhill & District work together to organise and fund a summer and Christmas event each year...

In 2025 these events will be in June and December

  • On Monday 9 June, a Rotary Children's Fun Day for Primary and Secondary pupils in supported learning in our area, at The S.R.U.C Barony Campus
  • The Rotary Children's Christmas Party will be held over two days for the first time this year at the Cairndale Hotel in Dumfries:
the Primary Pupils' party will be on Monday 1 December

the Secondary Pupils' party on Tuesday 2 December

With rising energy costs and food bills, there are many living locally who will struggle to keep warm in the coming months and local groups are trying to reach out to them and offer some warmth and support.

Annan & District Rotary have purchased a quantity of Sherpa Blankets to be donated towards a local initiative in Annan providing warm blankets to local residents struggling to afford heating over the coming winter months.
