The annual "Winter Treat" took place on Sunday 4th November.

Rotary Club of St Andrews "Winter Treat"

Last Sunday the 4th of November the Rotary Club of St Andrews held its annual Winter Treat at the Boys Brigade Hall.

Each year the club extends an invitation to local residents in sheltered housing and care homes as well as other worthy groups to fun filled afternoon comprising a game of Bingo under the direction of member Ian Johnston, a delicious afternoon tea supplied by Maurine Johnston followed by musical entertainment in the hands of Billy Anderson and the Kilrymont Accordion Band coupled with well known local singer Charlie Braid.

Thanks go to the members and their partners for their help also the two Rotaract members, Vice Chairman Tea Pesheva from Macedonia and Saeunn Gisladottir from Iceland.

A big thank you must also go to the two main local taxi firms, Club Cars and Golf City and their most cheerful and helpful drivers who each year pick up and return many of the guests, free of charge.  This is a fine example of local firms "doing their bit" for the community.

Dear Editor,

A Sincere Thank-you

On behalf of the St. Andrews Committee for the Blind and its Monday Club members, may I give a big "Thank You", firstly to the Rotary Club of St. Andrews for hosting and inviting us to their Winter Treat lunch and afternoon's entertainment in the B. B. Hall on 4th November, and secondly to Golf City and Club Cars who each provided us with much-needed transportation services free of charge.

Such activities are really appreciated by our members who all enjoyed the day immensely, and could not happen without the generosity, commitment and enthusiasm of these other organisations.

Yours faithfully,
Mrs. Annette Birkett (Convener)
