ShelterBox are currently working on five different disasters, Our work in Jordan and the Lebanon to provide support to the Syrian refugees coming across the borders remains a major priority for ShelterBox.
Myanmar Conflict

Comments: The Kachin conflict is one of multiple conflicts collectively referred to as the Burmese Civil War. Fighting between the Kachin Independence Army and Myanmar Army restarted in June 2011 after a 17-year-old ceasefire broke down, and continued throughout 2012. The recent conflict has resulted in the deaths of thousands of people and displaced an estimated 80,000. With the rainy season set to begin in May the situation for internally displaced persons (IDPs) could deteriorate. Due to the high security situation, ShelterBox is working with ACTED who will distribute 448 ShelterBoxes to IDPs in Kachin State on ShelterBox's behalf. The SRT has trained ACTED's workers in setting up the tents.
Jordan Syria refugees conflict

Aid distributed: 35 boxes
Comments: ShelterBox has been working in Jordan with border guards to distribute winterised boxes along the Jordan/Syria border providing a rest area for newly arriving refugees. More boxes are now in the hands of the border guards for further micro distributions along the Jordanian border from Israel to Iraq as part of a staging procedure for refugees on their journey to Zaatari Camp to avoid overwhelming the reception area and to keep them sheltered whilst awaiting transport. The SRT is now home.
Lebanon Syrian refugees conflict

Comment: ShelterBox has been working with the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide 700 boxes containing winterised kit. They have cleared customs and at various distribution hubs where multiple implementing partners are undertaking discrete micro distributions to Syrian refugee families. Due to the increased security situation, all teams are home as trained partners continue with distributions.
Madagascar Cyclone
Team: Peter Pearce (AU), Anthony Keating (AU)
Comments: Cyclone Haruna struck southern Madagascar on 22 February, damaging unanchored mobile homes, shrubbery and trees, and flooding coastal roads. ShelterBox worked with Madagascar's disaster agency, BNGRC, in the southwest in the affected area of Toliara to set up a camp with 135 tents for families in need, using prepositioned stock enabling a rapid response. The SRT has returned home as trained members of BNGRC continue with further small-scale distributions in isolated pockets of need.
Philippines Tropical Storm Bopha

Aid distributed: 354 boxes, 760 tents
Comments: Typhoon Bopha struck Mindanao with winds of 120 kilometres per hour and gusts of up to 150 kilometres per hour. Coastal, farming and mining regions were affected by the typhoon. Even though all teams have returned home, Plan International and HelpAge continue to distribute ShelterBoxes and tents on a micro level in Compostela valley and Davao
Oriental Province to enable people to live on their plots of land whilst rebuilding their homes. Once all are distributed, a team will return to finalise figures and complete the deployment.

- A fire has wiped out 100 makeshift houses in a refugee camp in Thailand housing Burmese refugees. Ops are monitoring the situation.
- Seven SchoolBoxes have been sent to conflict-hit Mali.
