Volunteering with Rotary
Rewarding Voluntary Work That Makes a Difference
Join Rotary and enjoy the benefits of volunteering with the collective knowledge, skills and experience that will see a project successfully completed.
Our background and understanding regarding local volunteering within the community puts us in an unenviable position to work with the following organisations:
- local businesses
- environmental groups
Rotary’s skills to successfully support a large variety of good causes can help you reap the benefits of local volunteering in the UK. These can range from helping out at food banks, assisting those affected by natural disasters such as floods, local hospice fundraising, organising and helping to sports events and tournaments for disabled youngsters and running memory cafes.
Get Busy with Local Volunteering
When we are not carrying out local volunteer work such as placing youngsters on programmes or entering them for youth competitions, many of our clubs are kept busy arranging yearly events such as marathons, sponsored walks, auto rallies, seasonal fayres and festivals, plus taking care of environmental issues in their local communities. Local volunteering can also take the shape of running weekly or monthly quiz nights, musical concerts, providing lunches for senior citizens and marshalling at festivals. Many more take active roles in our national partnerships such as Children in Need, blood pressure awareness days and organising days out for disadvantaged youngsters.
Volunteer work with Rotary can make a real difference to communities both home and abroad. Through voluntary work and other activities, Rotary gives volunteers and young people the chance to hone and improve personal skills and educate themselves in the problems that different countries around the world face on a daily basis. Volunteer work also allows you to meet like-minded individuals, who you will work and socialise closely with, hopefully leading to new friendships and establishing long-lasting relationships.
Business Networking through Rotary Volunteer Work
Through voluntary work with Rotary you will meet a large cross-section of people from a wide variety of business backgrounds. Add to this the diversity of our members from all walks of life then you will see the opportunity to interact with, and strike up professional connections across a large section of contrasting people, giving you the opportunity to share in business networking groups and events through volunteer work.
Voluntary Work at Home and Abroad
Voluntary work unites Rotary members at home and across the globe to share their knowledge and experience in a bid to take on and overcome some very challenging situations. Our volunteer work covers the following main areas:
- Promoting Peace
- Preventing Diseases
- Providing Access to Clean Water and Sanitation
- Enhancing Maternal and Child Health
- Improving Basic Education
- Literacy and Helping Communities Develop
