Walk the Test another Way – briefing document
Why have we done this?
Due to the impact of Covid19, there is an overwhelming desire for people to do something NOW to help raise funds for charities, at a time when they need it the most. People are asking, what can I do to make a difference?
In response, we are pleased to announce that we have today launched, ‘Walk the Test another Way’, to provide you with an opportunity to raise funds for the charity of your choice and its available right now for you to register!
You, your family and friends wherever they live in the UK or further afield can raise funds for your favourite charity by walking at or from home to comply with the current social distancing guidelines.
What is it?
As the name suggests, it’s a fundraising walk and it’s based on Rotary Club of Romsey Test annual fundraiser ‘Walk the Test Way’. Unlike WTTW however, this fundraiser provides for individuals to choose when and where they walk within government guidelines and they can start raising money for their chosen charity right away.
We’ve made options available to ensure that all ages and abilities can take part. You can complete your pledge in an hour of exercise in one day or over a number of days, depending on the distance and number of steps you choose.
This fundraiser is for everyone, irrespective of age or physical abilities. We look with admiration and respect to the remarkable fundraising achievement by Captain Tom Moore on the eve of reaching the grand age of 100. Now we can do something to make a difference in these challenging times.
Will my Rotary Club benefit directly?
All money raised will go to charity. All walkers when they register will have the opportunity to say which Rotary club if any prompted them to take part. We will track the funds raised by these walkers and 5% of the amount raised will be remitted to the referring Rotary club
How do we register?
Go to the web address at the top of the document and follow the guidelines on the Register tab
What recognition will walkers get?
Everyone who raises money through JustGiving will receive a medal and a letter from our Club president
Why can’t people just do some fundraising on their own?
They can, of course. However we have created an administration process, a website and a sense of a larger community that people can join in with through their Facebook and Instagram posts. Everyone will get tangible recognition in the form of a medal for taking part. We will manage the entire process of ensuring that their nominated charity receives the funds. In addition, this initiative provides an important source of funds for Rotary itself to do its work locally.
