Youth Activities in Rotary North East 2023-24
The 2023 Rotary Youth Competitions have all now been completed. The 2023 National finals of Young Musician, Young Chef and Youth Speaks were held in April 2023, and the "virtual" competition finals were judged in May/June 2023. Next year's Competitions will open for booking later in the year, so keep checking this page, as details will be posted as soon as RGB&I makes the information available.
We are delighted to report our 2023 National Winners of Young Chef and Young Musician and Young Artist are :
Eimhear McGrath - Penrith - Young Chef (she was our Cluster winner on 26 March)
Eva Scullion - Ripon - Young Musician - Vocalist (she was our Cluster winner of 25 March)
Amy Percival - Young Artist (Senior) - Middlesbrough Erimus.
Also, Astrid Jones Young Photographer )Senior) - Alnwick, was Highly Commended in the National finals.
This year's RYLA courses took place at our new purpose-built site alongside Hannahs Meadow and the Hury reservoir in August 2023, and both weeks were fully booked. RYLA North East in August 2023 was a truly invigorating event, providing even more opportunities to develop their leadership and team-working skills. 28 young people who took part. We cherry-picked highlights from our previous programmes and added loads of new features to offer the best RYLA yet.
We hope to run the Technology Tournament in the autumn of 2023, if resources permit, after taking time out because of COVID restrictions.
Bring It On North East, which originated as an idea from Sunderland Rotary, was run as a virtual event in 2020 and 2021, as the COVID restrictions made it impossible to bring together 1500 young people into an indoor event safely. The 2022 event returned to its live venue in the Beacon of Light on Wed 12th and Thu 13th Oct 2022 and was very successful, but unfortunately the 2023 event cannot take place becuase of resourcing issues.
