KidsOut Update May 2022

Update

Rotary KidsOut Update July 2022

At the time of writing the National Rotary KidsOut Day plans are well advanced (see below).  Note that the full title of the day is BRANDED ‘ROTARY’.  It is NOT too late to register for your NRKD Event.

If you are giving a ‘Presentation’/ Update to ‘Rotary’, given the timing, ma I suggest whilst mentioning NRKD, that you maximise the opportunity and ‘prioritise’ the time in favour of the Rotary Christmas Toy Box initiative details below.

Annually Rotary KidsOut has 2 MAIN ‘PROJECTS’:

1. National Rotary KidsOut Day/Event The aim of a Rotary KidsOut is to give an opportunity to as many disadvantaged children as possible to enjoy an event that they would not ordinarily experience, whether it be for 2 hours or all day, there is a very broad criterion ie. Theme Parks, Theatres, cinemas, Bowling, various workshops, Circus, Beach, Boat, Train Rides, Children’s Disabled Sports/Competitions, the list is endless.

Qualifying Criteria for KidsOut Event Funding: Organised and/or facilitated by ‘Rotary’, for children with a physical or mental impairment, or life-threatening illness, and/or unable to enjoy an event through lack of finance, also includes Young Carers and siblings within the family group and Foster Children.

Funding / Subsidy is available for Rotary KidsOut Day / Events Funding IS available for any Rotary KidsOut Event held at any time of the year.  PLUS in appreciating Rotary’s efforts, KidsOut have increased the subsidy per child from £2 to £5.00, payable directly to Rotary Clubs. Not forgetting FREE Rotary KidsOut ‘Baseball’ Caps.  More details and online Registration click on the link:

‘School Contacts’:  KidsOut rely upon ‘Rotary’ to get along as many children as possible to a Rotary KidsOut Day / Event.  A very good ‘point of contact’ at any school, but especially in ‘mainstream’ schools is that of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo).  If you have not already identified and contacted your local school’s SENCo, now could be a good time!

At the time of writing Rotary Clubs have registered almost 10,000 children, and whilst the majority are scheduled to have a great day out on 8 June, with the knock on effect of Covid, the others are benefitting from having a great day out at any other date in 2022

2. ROTARY Christmas Toy Box initiative Every Refuge, Every Child’ is held annually every year (September – December). Rotary Clubs are asked to make a donation of £25.00 to KidsOut for every ROTARY ‘Toy Box’, each individual ‘Toy Box’ will be filled with over £80.00 of NEW toys, applicable by age and gender and sent to EVERY child in Refuge at Christmas.

Following a very successful Christmas 2021 where Rotary Clubs donated over £76,000, ensuring over 5,700 children received their very own ‘Toy Box’ at Christmas, we shall be doing it all over again for Christmas this year (2022).  Please find a Toy Box Flyer Toy_Box_Flyer_-_basic.pdf here

Trust your Rotary KidsOut Day Event plans are going well?

Don't forget a KidsOut Event can take place at any time of year. With a £5 subsidy per child and free Rotary KidsOut baseball caps if required.

Mid / Late July I will be circulating details of this year's 2022 Rotary Christmas Toy Box initiative, which will be exactly the same as the last 2 years. If you get an opportunity to publicise this at any of your District 2022/23 'planning' meetings?

Meanwhile, KidsOut has released a new video, which serves to highlight the plight of children residing in a Domestic Violence Refuge.  See the link below

Please circulate the video (link) as you feel appropriate.

Last but not least, I have received enquiries in regard to Ukrainian Refugee Children, KidsOut are happy to supply FREE new toys to Ukrainian Refugee Children. If this is of interest, please contact me, advising of the number of children by age and gender.
