Young Artist

District results

I am delighted to inform you that the Judging of the 2023/24 District Round of the Young Artist competition, took place on Thursday 25th April, at Eyemouth High School. The judges were Linda Foster ( https://www.lindafoster.co.uk/) and Helen McKnockiter (https://www.helenmcknockiter.com/) both Borders based Artists.

The winners have already been informed by their club sponsors and their winning entries have been forwarded for the National RGB&I round of the competition. In addition, the winners will receive a palette & easel trophy and a certificate that they can include in their Personal Statement. The winning school will receive a Palette & Easel trophy with the schools name added. Hopefully these will be displayed in the school trophy cabinet linking Rotary and the winning schools even more closely together. Images of both trophies will be available on the District website shortly, I anticipate delivery of the Schools Trophies week commencing 6th May.

I also asked the judges to select a Highly Commended in each class, each of whom will receive a certificate which they can include in their Personal Statement.

Highly Commended

Junior – Autumn Cowing – West Barns Primary School – RC Dunbar

>Senior – Freya Findlay – RC Jedburgh

As the judges were considering each piece, they noted some (all positive & constructive) comments onto ‘a post it note’ which will be returned with the artwork and will hopefully prove of some value to the pupils concerned.

Looking forward to 2024/25 and receiving even more entries.
