What a Load of Rubbish! - May 29th
We are lucky to have the vast open countryside of Roborough Down right on our doorstep and it’s a shame that parts of it get disfigured by litter. On May 29th, Rotary Environment Day a group of 17 Rotarians and friends decided to do something about it and walked from the Moorland Links Hotel to Roborough Rock picking up litter and debris en route. To begin with pickings were lean but as the team got into their stride we ended up with an umbrella, 5 hubcaps, a few other unidentifiable objects and 9 bags of rubbish.
This was just one of many environmental activities organised by Rotary Clubs across the country.
Tavistock Firemen support Rotarians in canal duck plunge- April 24th
The Rotary Clubs of Roborough, Tavistock and Yelverton raised over £2,000 at their Charity Duck Race held in the Tavistock Meadows on Saturday April 24th.
With the wind blowing in the wrong direction members of the Tavistock Fire Service saved the day by jumping into the canal to guide the 2,500 rubber ducks down the canal.
Geoff Lucock, President of Roborough Rotary Club said
“It was a fantastic day with Rotarians from all three Clubs joining forces to make the race a real success. We are especially grateful to the Tavistock Fire & Rescue Service for the shepherding the stray ducks down the canal.”
The money raised from the race will be going to the Stroke Association, ShelterBox and End Polio.
