Princes Risborough Rotary "bikers" - 100th ride

Our first ride was on 20th October 2002 when 4 Rotarians cycled the Phoenix Trail.  Today, on our 100th ride, we repeated the route including a stop at the Coffee Pot in Thame.

During this period we have cycled many different routes around the Chiltern Hills, the Vale of Aylesbury and the Thames Valley.  Our total distance has been 1,717 miles, varying from 7 to 40 miles per ride and the number of riders has varied from 2 to 10.

We have seen some wonderful scenery in glorious sunshine but at other times got soaked through to the skin, we have exhausted ourselves riding up the hills and then delighted in the ride down on the other side and we have mended a number of broken bikes but, fortunately, no broken riders.

Several of the rides have been sponsored rides, such as the Tour de Vale in aid of Stoke Mandeville disabled sports and Pedal Push run each year by Rotary Club of High Wycombe in aid of a raft of charities and the club has generously contributed to these sponsorships.  Several of the rides have included visits to Rotarians in hospital.

Cycling is a great way to see the local sights, to keep fit and simply to be outdoors.  We invite all club members and friends to join us.
