District Governor John Barbour addresses thr Club


 

Rotary meets District Governor

 

On Friday 3rd August, Dumfries Rotary Club welcomed District 1020  Governor John Barbour. John was introduced to members by Club President John Henderson, who referred to John's roots in Ardrossan, his 23 year membership of Rotary, his wife and two daughters,, and, having sat next to him during lunch, his great enthusiasm for Rotary.

As soon as John stood up, it was evident that this talk was going to be different. In a refreshingly self-deprecating manner, John described his amazement at having worked his way up the ladder to become District Governor. In fact, he told of a chat with his wife Joyce, when he asked her if she ever thought, in her wildest dreams, that John would achieve such heights. To be honest, said John, his wife's reply was a little disappointing -
