THE POWER OF EXPLOSIVES

At our meeting of 20 January, we had a most interesting presentation by Steven Lewis on the Power of Explosives. He was introduced by one of our guests, John Hall, a personal friend and member of Bretby Rotary Club. Explosives fall into three categories, military, commercial and home-made. Military explosives are the most powerful, a well-known example being Semtex, which is inert and has a 100 year shelf-life. Commercial explosives, such as TNT and dynamite, used for example in mining, are slightly less powerful and have a shorter shelf-life of 8
