End Polio Now Campaign
Club member Gareth Cheesman visits India to immunise against polio.
Last November, Rotarian Gareth Cheesman and his wife, Jan, participated in the Indian National Immunization Day. They travelled to New Delhi where they met up with several other Rotarians and friends of Rotary who were taking part. They were briefed by the Indian organizing committee on the routine for the weekend before immunizing around 350 babies and children in a slum area of New Delhi. The following day, there was a house-to-house follow-up campaign in a different area of the city followed by a visit to a Rotary-funded blood bank. They were hosted by a number of New Delhi clubs during this visit before moving on to Amritsar for a private visit before returning home.
Gareth will talk about this adventure at the club on 18th March.
